This is a full length orthotic that was originally designed for the diabetic patient. This orthotic has 4 different layers. The top two are for cushion and comfort, with the bottom two for support. This is a soft orthotic, which does not give as much support as the others, but will provide more cushion. Used where there is a need for cushioning and moderate support. A very comfortable orthotic, but will require the removal of the show liner.
This is the basic neutral shell with the addition of a heel post. A heel post is the additional material that is added in the heel area of the orthotic, and then ground flat. It looks like the heel of a shoe that has been added to the orthotic. This addition will help give the orthotic more stability and prevent rocking from side to side. This is used for people who are active, and will give added support. Often used in sports, running and golfing.
This is our basic neutral shell orthotic that has the addition of a cushioning top cover that runs past the ball of the foot to the area where the toes begin (sulcus). It does not run to the end of the foot. This is used when additional cushion is required under the ball of the foot. By ending at the sulcus, it will give the added cushion without taking up room in the toe box which often crowds the toes, or requires the removal of the shoe insole.
This is the basic orthotic that is fabricated from a corrected cast. This cast is obtained from the impression kit that is sent to you. It is a semi rigid device. It has some flexibility, but is rigid enough to control abnormal foot function. This slight flexibility makes the orthotic more comfortable, and easier to adjust to. The orthotic runs from the heel to just behind the ball of the foot. It is covered with a vinyl top cover. This orthotic is the basic device that is fabricated at CustomOrthotics.com. It is the most frequently ordered orthotic.
The full length orthotic with the addition of a heel post for added stability. This is the basic Neutral Shell orthotic, but it has a forefoot extension. This is a layer of dense foam that runs from the heel to the end of the toes. It is covered with the vinyl top cover. It is often used when there is a need for additional cushion under the ball of the foot up to the toes. Often this orthotic will require the removal of the insole from the shoe.
